The Radiology Tech performs basic to complex diagnostic radiographic procedures, as requested by a licensed physician. The Radiology Tech exercises professional judgment in providing health care services, applying x-ray energy, to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly. Responsibilities General Functions: Produces high quality diagnostic radiographs, by selecting and operating appropriate radiographic equipment, operating room protocols, c-arm use and advanced diagnostic procedures Practices aseptic techniques as necessary, understands methods of venipuncture and other sterile techniques, in agreement with state statues and./or where institutional policy permits, prepares, identifies and/or administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner Rotates through advanced areas of diagnostic radiology to include procedures in O.
R Urography room, open reductions, myelography, arthrography, placements and trauma Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and procedure is recorded Assists practitioner with fluoroscopy, arthrography, O. R. procedures and trauma Provides communication to patients for instructions and history in order to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety Assumes responsibility for provision of physical safety and psychological needs of the patient during procedures Positions patients to best demonstrate anatomical areas of interest as requested respecting patients’ ability, comfort and safety.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas Medical Board (TMB) license. Possession of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, in Radiography or registry eligible. Must have ARRT within one year post graduation of accredited school.
