You’ll need
Certifications
✓Valid, active certification in good standing as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) required.
✓Must meet and maintain credentialing requirements with the State of Hawaii Child & Adolescent Mental Health Division (CAMHD).
✓Driver's abstract or evidence of good driving record required.
✓Current BLS certification.
Specialization in Behavioral Health preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Therapeutic Recreation. preferred
Master’s degree in therapeutic recreation, or other healthcare science preferred.
Course work in communications, group dynamics and fitness preferred.
Qualifications
✓standing, sitting, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting, pushing/pulling usual weight of 25 pounds, carrying usual weight of 10 pounds, reaching at and below shoulder level.
✓Continuous: finger dexterity.
✓Frequent: climbing stairs, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
✓Occasional: stooping/bending, kneeling, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting body, lifting and pushing/pulling weight up to 50 pounds, carrying weight up to 20 pounds, reaching above shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions.
✓Operates computer, typewriter, therapeutic tools and kits.
✓Valid U.S. driver's license required in accordance with Hawaii State law, rules and regulations.
✓One (1) year experience as a recreation therapist or related work experience.
✓Experience working with individuals with psychiatric illness, demonstrating working knowledge of psychiatric disorders, mental illness treatment and recovery processes as it relates to recreation and leisure.
