In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needsUses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient carePlans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient careFacilitates a safe environmentMaintains required competenciesFunctions as charge nurse as assignedMaintains an accurate and relevant record of patient careAdministers medication as ordered by physicianRecognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriatelyEstablishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staffMonitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicatorsActively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient servicesAdjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patientsSupports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimenOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training: Associate's degree in nursing requiredBachelor's degree in nursing preferredCurrent licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensureUnit Description:7VP is a 50-Bed Adult Intensive Care Unit caring for Cardiac, Medical, Neurosurgical, Surgical, Transplant and Trauma patientsPatient ratio 1:2Our Care Team consists of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, Unit Secretary, Monitor Technicians, Charge Nurses, Patient Care Coordinators, Clinical Educator, and Nurse ManagerNew Graduate Nurses are encouraged to applySelf-directed schedulingFlexible Weekend Plan eligibleWork

Greater than one year of experience in ICU, Med-Surg, critical care, or emergency departmentThis role requires a high level of empathy, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary teamPossess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, high attention to detail, and ability to work under pressureKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills Verbal and written skills required Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skillsHas knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically servedPhysical
