Department Highlights36-bed Cardiac PCU DepartmentNurse/Patient Ratio: 1:4 depending on acuityPatient population: intermediate /telemetry level of care for the post-acute cardiac, general medical, endocrine GI/renal patient populationMAGNET facilityLevel III Trauma Center Primary Stroke centerEnjoy self-scheduling to help with work/life balance.

Excellent opportunities for educational and career growth including advancement opportunities in leadershipHere’s what you needNursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferredCurrent RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hireCLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency ReqBCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterlyACLS – within 90 days of hireCPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program requiredCurrent PCU experience strongly preferredIn addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

The professional nurse exhibits understanding of basic human needs. The professional nurse demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • assesses the patient
  • plans the care of the patient
  • intervenes as appropriate
  • evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
