Verifies orders and facilitates implementation, communicating with physicians as needed; performs treatments and administers medications according to policy and training. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs hand hygiene according to accepted standards of care. Other duties as assigned.
Learns and upgrades skills, utilizing knowledge to assist with orientation, training, and education of new personnel. Participates in quality and performance improvement activities, accurately documenting and monitoring activities as needed. Produces accurately written, promptly completed medical records based on scope and complexity of the intervention procedure and patient clinical conditions.
Assesses and interprets diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including lab results, non-invasive monitoring data, and interdisciplinary team notes. Applies knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unit patient population. Completes timely assessments including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors, including signs of abuse or neglect.
Makes appropriate decisions and implements interventions based on nursing diagnoses according to patients' actual or potential health conditions or needs. Sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care. Prioritizes and completes follow-up assessments, evaluating and modifying plans of care as needed.
