✓Requirements
Licensure
✓Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure.
Certifications
✓Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
✓Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
✓Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) required within two years.
✓Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) required within two years.
✓Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Certification(s) in area of specialty from National Certification Corporation (NCC) within 1 year of eligibility. preferred
NMH Emergency: Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) and Certified Emergency Nursing (CEN). preferred
Education
✓Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college of nursing required OR obtained within 5 years from date of hire for nurses with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Qualifications
✓Medication reconciliation
✓Selection of correct pharmacy for E-scribe.
✓Discharge vital signs within 15 minutes of dismissal.
✓NIH Stroke Scale training required by the end of orientation.
✓Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements.
✓If the specialty is not listed, no prior experience is required:
✓Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with patients, family members, hospital personnel, and co-workers.
✓Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
✓Ability to learn, retain, and utilize computer skills that are required for department and hospital information system.
MWH Emergency: 2 years of nursing experience. preferred
MWH Emergency: Emergency Department (ED) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience. preferred
