Registered Nurse Fellow (RN) Observation Unit

Inova Loudoun Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse who are looking to grow to join the Observation team. The Observation Unit at Inova Loudoun Hospital is a 27-bed unit with a rapid patient turnover of admission and discharges. The patient population consists of cardiac, neurological, medical, and surgical patients. Learn the fast-paced atmosphere of an ER setting while gaining critical medical/surgical nursing skills.

Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships. Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice. Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.

Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues. Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning. Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.

Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care. Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.

BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate’s degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.

Requires a minimum of 1-year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting. Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.

Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting highly preferred.
