Provides professional nursing care through assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Meets the needs of the patient, family and interdisciplinary team through communication, coordination, evaluation, and service excellence. Care is provided to all ages with problems ranging from simple, non-urgent to complex, life-threatening conditions.
All documentation tracking and aftercare is electronic and computer based. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training BSN Degree preferred. Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) Tier 1 – Med/Surg Colorado RN License in good standing.
BLS Certification. ACLS Certification or completion within 6 months of hire. This requirement is effective for those hired after 1/1/2023 Certified NIH Stroke Scale within 6 months of hire or by 7/1/2025 for current incumbents.
Tier 2 – Intensive Care Demonstrated physical and mental health to apply nursing theories, procedures and standards to clinical practice. Cardiac monitor interpretation One-year critical care experience Knowledge, Skill and Ability Demonstrates physical and mental abilities to apply nursing and management theories, procedures and standards. Leadership, delegation and critical thinking skills to manager patient needs within the scope of unit expectations and needs.
Knowledge of safety principles and infection prevention. Ability to assist in identifying ways to promote quality care. Demonstrates conflict resolution skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels and in cross-functional environments. Knowledge of standards, policies and procedures of Boulder Community Hospital.
Computer charting skills desirable. Experience 1 years of inpatient nursing experience preferred. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED Standard medical/hospital equipment, i.e. pumps, monitors, phone, computers, etc.

The employee is frequently required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds, support, push and pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).
Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reach. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch. Rotating between Foothills and Broadway campus is an expectation of the position.

Tier 2 – intensive Care Coordinates and provides nursing care for critically ill or injured patients ages 15 through the lifespan with respect to diversity. In life threatening emergent situations, will provide care for critically injured children with support from physicians, pediatricians, and pediatric nurses until transfer can be done safely. Employees must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department.
Employees demonstrate the ability to alter care and patient/family education based on the age or developmental level of the patient. Competency in rhythm recognition, ACLS guidelines, hemodynamics, and basic principles of critical care nursing. Assesses patient status systematically, demonstrates critical thinking by anticipating and responding to changes in clinical condition.
Works together as a team to meet patient individual plan. Demonstrates an understanding of patient education tools, assesses learning ability and needs then develops an education plan to meet patient and family deficits. May be required to perform point of care testing.
