Summary MUSC Charleston’s Float Team offers RNs flexible scheduling and float differential pay while caring for diverse patient populations across all ages in specialized zones. RNs in this specialized zone will float between multiple emergency departments: Main Hospital ED (1 West), Ashley River Tower ED (Chest Pain Center), Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital ED, the Psychiatric ED (DPod) and freestanding EDs throughout Charleston.

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of two years of emergency department work experience as a registered nurse is required. Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to initiate education for BSN within 2 years and complete within four years of hire date.
Employees are required to sign an agreement regarding the education requirement. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
