Licensure
✓Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
Certifications
✓Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
✓If selected, candidate must maintain current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP and complete an advanced trauma course (ex: PATC or TNCC) within 1 year of orientation.
Education
✓Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of 5 years of pediatric critical experience in NICU, PICU, PCICU or equivalent.
✓RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.

✓Identify learning needs and the resources to attain them.
✓Serve as a resource to improve patient care and team operations.
✓Assist in sharing and teaching best practices and skills to other team members, students and orientees
✓Orient and train new staff, providing timely written and verbal feedback.
✓Facilitate a positive learning environment for new hires and provide individualized teaching instructions as appropriate.
✓Develop personal objectives and evaluate practice through discussion with others and self-evaluation.
✓Demonstrate insight and self-awareness necessary to recognize one’s impact on others and change behavior accordingly.
✓Accept and utilize constructive feedback to improve performance.
✓Demonstrate effective use of computer-based information for decision support, continuous quality improvement and professional development.
