Job Summary and Qualifications The PICC Registered Nurse demonstrates critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in anticipating and planning for patient care. This role involves inserting and monitoring peripherally placed central venous catheters (PICC), mid-line catheters, and peripheral IV catheters.
The nurse also serves as a resource and consultant for staff regarding I. V. therapy assessment, products, and procedures, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective intravenous therapy. In this highly specialized role, you will serve as the hospital expert for vascular access, performing PICC and Midline insertions, supporting difficult IV placements, educating clinical staff, and helping improve patient outcomes through safe, evidence-based vascular access practices.
Perform PICC and Midline catheter insertions utilizing ultrasound guidance Assess patients and recommend appropriate vascular access devices Assist with difficult peripheral IV insertions throughout the hospital Monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and discontinue vascular access devices as needed Educate and support nursing staff on vascular access best practices Collaborate with physicians, radiology, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care What qualifications you will need: Current Florida License as Registered Nurse or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions) Associate in Nursing required Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association Current ACLS issued by the American Heart Association Current PICC Line Certification Certification in vascular access (e.g., VA-BC) - Preferred Must have PICC RN experience with Midlines Two years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse to include I.
