The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency.

About Labor & Delivery at IU Health Arnett IU Health Arnett Labor & Delivery consists of: 7 Labor & Delivery rooms 4 Triage/Antepartum beds 2 Obstetrical Operating Rooms 1 PACU bay As a Level III Labor & Delivery unit, we care for a wide range of patients, including many high-risk pregnancies. The team is supported by: Dedicated CRNAs on-site 24/7 OB Laborists on-site 24/7 Scheduled Certified Nurse Midwives Highly collaborative partnerships with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams Our patients remain with us throughout their pregnancy-related hospitalization, including triage, labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery, allowing nurses to develop strong patient relationships while managing the full continuum of obstetrical care.

Nursing Skills Gained on This Unit Circulating in OB procedures within the Obstetrical OR Triage and assessment of OB patients Managing all phases of labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery Caring for high-risk obstetrical patients Collaborating closely with physicians, laborists, midwives, CRNAs, and APPs Developing advanced maternal-child nursing expertise Unit Successes & Designations Anthem Blue Distinction Level III Care Unit Culture High level of nursing autonomy Strong collaboration between nursing, physicians, and APPs Opportunities for professional growth through participation in multiple unit-based committees Supportive team environment focused on exceptional patient outcomes and evidence-based practice Qualifications Requires an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Requires graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). Additional Advanced Life Support certifications may be required based on unit or specialty practice requirements.
