In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needsUses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient carePlans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient careFacilitates a safe environmentMaintains required competenciesFunctions as charge nurse as assignedMaintains an accurate and relevant record of patient careAdministers medication as ordered by physicianRecognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriatelyEstablishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staffMonitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicatorsActively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient servicesAdjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patientsSupports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimenOther duties as assigned Minimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training: Associate's degree in nursing requiredBachelor's degree in nursing preferredCurrent licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure Unit Scope:The 2 East unit consists of Med-Surgical Patient population.
Our patients include both inpatient and outpatient adults and geriatric. (No Pediatrics)Our Care team consists of a team that provides safe quality care: Registered Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, RN Case Managers, Medical Providers, Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator Our PCM and Charge Nurses are available to support our clinical needs with access to education, resources, guidelines, and protocols. Our electronic medical record is EPICWe operate 12-hour shifts, Monday through Sunday (24/7), including after hour nights, weekend, and holiday staffing.
