Full employer posting

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only full-service children’s specialty hospital and the state’s only maternity, newborn, and pediatric specialty hospital. Widely recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants, and children, the 253-bed, not-for-profit medical center delivers over 5,000 babies each year and serves as a major teaching and research facility. Kapi'olani is recognized for its expertise in caring for high-risk pregnancies, with a team of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physicians who provide specialized care for mothers and babies facing complex medical conditions.

Kapi'olani is home to Hawai'i’s largest and most advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the state’s only Pediatric Congenital Heart Program, and Hawai'i’s only pediatric bone marrow collection and transplant program, where approximately 95% of patients participate in clinical trials. In 2025, Kapi'olani’s Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell Transplant Program earned accreditation in cellular therapy from the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB), recognizing the program’s commitment to meeting rigorous national standards for quality and patient care.

The hospital is also home to Hawai'i’s only dedicated breast health and gynecologic cancer centers and was the first facility on O'ahu to be designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. Since 1984, Kapi'olani has been Hawai'i’s only Children’s Miracle Network hospital and has earned numerous national recognitions, including Gold Level Center of Excellence designation from ELSO, top-tier national patient experience rankings, Joint Commission reaccreditations, Level 3 Pediatric Trauma Center and Level 1 Children’s Surgical Verification recertifications from the American College of Surgeons, and the 2025 Starlight Children’s Foundation Hospital of the Year Award.

More than 1,400 employees and over 700 physicians provide exceptional care through specialty programs including the Kapi'olani Women’s Center, Women’s Cancer Center, Kapi'olani Child Protection Center, Sex Abuse Treatment Center, and numerous pediatric specialty clinics, serving families throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific. At Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides continuous acute care to newborns of up to three months, including meeting the complex psychosocial needs of both the child and their family.

Nursing and medical support staff in the NICU work with the Neonatology team to care for premature babies and assist in pediatric surgeries, providing care to newborn infants with cardiovascular and/or respiratory disease and infants requiring treatments for various diagnoses including infection and surgery. Support and education is delivered to patients and family in an atmosphere that promotes bonding of the family unit.

This opportunity is for the new graduate nurse who has a desire to become a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse or the experienced nurse who wants to make a change.
