Interprets information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors. Describes the pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes and the physiology associated with anesthesia techniques and surgical interventions. Applies relevant scoring systems for patient transfer accurately as defined by organizational policy.
Develops and implements individualized perianesthesia plans of care, including managing recovery from various types of anesthesia. Protects patients from injury caused by positioning, thermal sources, and extraneous objects. Communicates the patient's current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care.
Administers medications correctly by implementing the 7-rights of safe medication practices. Performs interventions to maintain the integrity of the patient's wound, tissue perfusion, and overall system status at or above baseline levels. Provides age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice.
Documents nursing care completely, accurately, and legibly. Collaborates effectively with other disciplines as needed. Assesses patients' postoperative status, including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, hemodynamic stability, pain, comfort, and mental status.
