Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Float Pool – Full-Time Nights

Full Time Nights (1900-0730, 3 12-hour shifts/week), weekends and holiday shifts; four weekend night shifts required per 6 week schedule period. Work Arrangement : On-Site Department : Staffing Support Services - Float Pool Facility : University Hospital – 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia, MO 65212

Units/clusters include: University Hospital, Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Missouri Psychiatric Center (MUPC), Missouri Orthopaedic Institute (MOI), and Capital Region Medical Center (CRMC). Clusters are chosen on hire and updated through years of service. • Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning.
• Assess, intervene, and reassess the patient's self-report/symptoms of pain promptly. Utilize an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment.
• Demonstrate an understanding of medications regarding action and side effects. Report pertinent information to the appropriate individual. Educate patients and significant others about their medications.
• Demonstrate the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.
• Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing unit.
• Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.
• Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, or nursing supervisor) and record those observations accurately and concisely.
• Provide quality care to patients and work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.
• May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
• One (1) year of acute care RN experience.

• One (1) year of service within MU Health Care. • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
