Certifications
✓Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
✓Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required or obtained during orientation
✓Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or required per department standards
✓All required certifications must be maintained throughout employment
Fetal monitoring certification or competency preferred
Education
✓Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
✓New graduate RNs are required to complete Norman Regional’s Nurse Residency Program
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
Qualifications
✓Knowledge of maternal-newborn nursing principles, fetal monitoring interpretation, newborn transition, and obstetrical emergencies
✓Ability to provide safe care to both laboring patients and newborns during the transition period
✓Strong critical thinking, communication, prioritization, and teamwork skills
✓Ability to recognize changes in maternal or newborn condition and escalate care appropriately
✓Ability to function effectively in high-stress and rapidly changing clinical situations.
✓Ability to manage multiple priorities while providing safe maternal and newborn care
Previous healthcare experience preferred
Labor & Delivery, postpartum, neonatal, or women’s services experience preferred
Experience with newborn care or neonatal stabilization preferred
