How you’ll contribute As a RN OR who excels in this role: Perform interventions necessary to ensure that the patient’s procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level. Perform interventions to maintain the patient’s wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels. Perform interventions to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels.
Perform interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia at the conclusion of the immediate postoperative period. Perform interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection. Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.
Protect the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical and thermal sources. Documents patient care given accurately and completely. Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
Provide consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting. Perform accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items. Transfer care as applicable - use handoffs for reporting aids Involve the patient or designated support person actively in decisions affecting his or her perioperative plan of care and the rehabilitation process.
Manage the patient’s specimens according to organizational policy and procedures. Maintain required competencies. Assess patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.
Communicate the patient’s current status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care. Administer medications safely and correctly. Evaluate the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes.
Assess the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person. Provide education regarding the expected psychosocial response, nutritional management, medication management, pain management, wound management, and expected responses to the operative or invasive procedure. Provide age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice.
Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects. Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.

What we’re looking for Applicants must have Graduate of a RN program and a current nurse’s license in the state of Pennsylvania or a current multistate license (MSL) from compact member states/territories required.
Additional requirements include: Associate’s degree is required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS). Basic Trauma Nurse Course (BTNC) or equivalent training (ATCN, TCRN, TNCC) obtained within 1 year of hire is required.
Must be able to work irregular hours including call hours.
