CURRENT EMPLOYEES: Please log into Workday Click Here to apply internally through the "Jobs Hub"Job DescriptionPerforms professional nursing services as defined by the American Nurses Association and the California Nurse Practice Act. Possesses skills to act both as a clinical leader and resource nurse, as well as an administrative leader assuming 24 hour responsibility for the functioning of the unit. Supervises both licensed and unlicensed nursing staff.

Oversees daily nursing practice on an assigned unit to ensure that safe and appropriate care is provided and is responsible for overall management of the unit during all shifts. Collaborates actively with medical, administrative and interdisciplinary leadership staff to ensure optimal patient care outcomes. Participates in the preparation and ongoing monitoring and control of fiscal resources.

Performs a variety of functions related to the management of department personnel in compliance with organizational and human resources policies and proceduresInterviews, hires, and recommends termination of employees in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures and in consultation with the Director. Communicates job duties to staff in a clear, understandable, and concise manner; plans, directs, and supervises work of assigned staff utilizing positive communications and effective problem solving skills.

Provides consistent input on performance in consultation with Director; to include initial planning/review session, annual performance appraisal, and counseling, if necessary, based on defined criteria and in compliance with Human Resources policies and procedures. Consults in a timely manner with Director regarding staff performance, problems or concerns which may affect efficient and effective department operations, and hospital-wide issues which may have a direct or indirect effect on department morale.

Delegates appropriate responsibility and authority to staff according to relevant

s and individual capabilities. Evaluates department staffing/scheduling requirements, taking into account requests for holiday/vacation time; recommends appropriate use of per diem staff. Coordinates new employee orientation to department within established timeframes.

Acts as a resource to staff; assesses the need for, plans, and coordinates priority educational offerings and skills training for staffPerforms a variety of administrative functions to coordinate, supervise, and monitor department operations under the direction of the Director. Required
