Job Overview: At RWJBarnabas Health, Float Pool Registered Nurses provide extraordinary care to patients across all populations, including Med/Surg, 8 South a 38-bed unit, Med/Surg, 6 South a 38-bed unit, Telemetry/Cardiac, 7 South a 38-bed unit and In-patient Oncology, 4 North a 22-bed unit. We provide management of acutely ill patients with lift-threatening conditions requiring complex assessment, high- intensity therapies and interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance. As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include: Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes Organizes and administers individualized age-specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care. Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Supports the philosophy, objectives and the mission and vision of the Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. Practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Department of Health Regulations, TJC requirements and other regulatory agencies. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred; graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
