The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program (BMT) at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital is among the best in the world. We were the first institution to successfully complete a bone marrow transplant– back in 1968. We’re the site of innovative treatments, research studies and clinical trials with our trailblazing researchers investigating new frontiers in stem cell therapy and immunotherapy.
This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours) every two weeks on the DAY/EVENING shift, 8 hour shifts and every other weekend Fairview offers a nurse residency program for eligible new graduate RNs taking this role with the organization! We have 24 beds on the unit. We work together with the entire interdisciplinary team (MDs, NPs, NSTs, OT/PT, Speech, SW, etc) to deliver quality care. Patient assignment varies based on acuity, Med/Surg or IMC.
Provides complex care to pediatric patient/families preparing for and undergoing blood and marrow transplantation, pediatric hematology-oncology, urology, blood and marrow, metabolic, and gastrointestinal disorders Performs advanced monitoring using current technology. Manages sophisticated medication and infusion therapies Cares for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment. Bed capacity: 24 Nurse to patient ratio: 1:2 to 1:4 Required Qualifications MN Registered Nurse (RN) License Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) 6 months + Current Pediatric BMT or Heme/Onc experience OR have completed Intership/Captstone/Preceptroship in Pediatric BMT/Heme/Onc
