Licensure
✓License to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.
Certifications
✓Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Worker required at the time of appointment, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification are required within six (6) months of employment.

Education
✓Applicants must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
✓SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED: Possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university school of nursing may be substituted for one year of nursing experience.
Qualifications
✓NURSING EXPERIENCE: One-half (1/2) year of progressively responsible professional nursing work experience in an intensive care setting where the employee independently provided nursing care to patients. Such experience must have been gained within the last two (2) years.
✓QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position.
✓The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
✓For certain positions, possession of a motor vehicle operator's license is required.
✓Knowledge of nursing theory and practice
✓nursing techniques and procedures
✓nursing literature and current trends and development in nursing.
✓The ability to apply nursing theory in planning and giving nursing care
✓recognize, interpret and evaluate symptoms of patient’s condition and take appropriate action.
✓The employee should be able to initiate and maintain working relationships with members of the medical staff, administration, nursing, and other departments and agencies affiliated with the hospital.
✓Applicants must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under the federal law for unrestricted employment and at the time of appointment intend to reside in the State of Hawaii during the course of employment with the Hawaii Health Systems Co
