Licensure
✓Current, valid, Maryland state drivers’ license may be required.
Certifications
✓CPR certification is required.
Education
✓General knowledge of MHA regulations is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in the human services or related field is preferred.
Qualifications
✓Additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year for year basis for up to four years.
✓In addition, one year experience in a lead role, overseeing the work activities of counseling staff is required.
✓Knowledge of mental health, psychology, counseling, and crisis intervention is required.
✓Knowledge of state Medicaid guidelines, code of ethics and professional standards, and confidentiality and privacy.
✓Current, valid Maryland state driver’s license is required. Ability to use a 12-passenger van is required.
✓Ability to supervise and monitor the daily work activities and evaluate, train, and motivate the performance of subordinate staff.
✓Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient populations(s) served.
✓Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of recovery, growth, and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age-specific needs.
✓Effective oral and written communication skills are required to work with UMMS staff as well as in supervising counseling staff.
Five years professional counseling experience performing mental health services to include experience in residential rehabilitation and or psychiatric rehabilitation services is preferred.
