You’ll need
Certifications
✓Must have active Medical Assistant certification or be a graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program and obtain a Medical Assistant certification within six (6) months of the date of hire or transfer into the position.
✓Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Education
✓Must have completed High School Diploma or GED
✓Must be a graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
Qualifications
✓ICD-9 and CPT coding, completion of a standard terminology course is helpful, but not required.
✓Excellent decision-making skills and initiative
✓Very detail-oriented
✓Excellent verbal communication skills in the English language
✓Basic arithmetic skills necessary for cashiering
✓Data entry experience
✓Ability to prioritize tasks and organize workflow
✓Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional, customer-service-oriented manner
✓Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
✓Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks
✓Knowledge of ambulatory health care or related health care fields
✓Skilled in conflict resolution
Two to four (2–4) years of clerical/customer service experience, preferably in a health care-related industry preferred
One (1) year of experience with third-party payors preferred
Computer experience with inputting data and reviewing patient demographic information preferred
One (1) year of Medical Assistant experience preferred
