Resident Assistant

Under the supervision of the Respite Manager, the Resident Assistant performs participant duties and assists in maintaining a positive physical, social, and psychological environment for the participants while they are attending the respite programs. Responsible for assisting with implementation of daily activity schedule, daily documentation and following the plan of care consistent with participants preferences/capabilities/needs.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to transportation, assistance for community outings, meal preparation, ADL assistance, and providing 1:1 assistance to participants as needed. Adheres to the abuse prevention program policies and procedures. Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality. Consistently works cooperatively with participants, participants� representatives, facility staff and ancillary service providers.

Participates in department education as directed. MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows. Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
