✓Requirements
Certifications
✓If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
✓Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Education
✓High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a mental health or behavioral assistant working with adults and or children -OR- completion of 12 college credits preferred.
Qualifications
✓At least 21 years of age.
✓As a condition of employment, individuals working with addictions services must be free from problematic substance use for a minimum of the immediately preceding two years at time of hire.
✓Internal applicants should attach their three most recent performance appraisals.
✓Valid driver’s license, and acceptable driving record as defined by policy.
Experience with 24/7 residential programs or psychiatry & psychology-based programs preferred.

About the role

The Psychiatric Technician is an integral member of the psychiatric residential, hospital-based psych emergency services team and participates in both direct and indirect patient care for adults and children. At the direction of a registered nurse the Psychiatric Technician promotes involvement in the treatment program.
