They assess, treat, and monitor patients with cardiopulmonary conditions, manage mechanical ventilation, perform diagnostic testing, and collaborate closely with physicians and nursing teams to ensure the highest quality of patient care. A Typical Day for a Respiratory Therapist May Include: Providing respiratory care treatments and therapies to patients throughout the hospital. Monitoring, maintaining, and adjusting mechanical ventilation systems.
Performing arterial and capillary blood gas sampling and analysis. Responding to emergency situations and providing airway management as ordered. Evaluating patient response to therapy and recommending modifications to treatment plans.
Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes. Serving as a clinical resource for nursing staff and ancillary personnel regarding respiratory care practices. Documenting patient assessments, treatments, and responses in accordance with hospital policies.

Ability to follow directions accurately, prioritize responsibilities, and complete assignments effectively. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Current BLS certification.
Adult critical care, neonatal, and/or pediatric experience preferred. Certifications & Licenses Required: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) eligible, as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Active New Jersey Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification.
