Description

Responsibilities Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health opened its doors in April 2025 as the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 25 years! Integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8, this enhanced integrated delivery system will establish a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

Our advanced hospital will offer 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, onsite 550-car parking garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (Full-Time, Nights) Our ideal candidate will fulfill the needs of the patients, families, and community by performing a variety of routine and intensive therapy, diagnostic procedures, and patient assessments in accordance with his/her licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements.

The Respiratory Therapist will maintain and stock respiratory equipment and ensure ventilator and life support equipment are operable. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Deliver care to patients in a competent, capable, caring, and efficient manner. Demonstrate an understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Perform patient evaluations and assessments according to department and hospital policy. Perform initial and ongoing assessment on all assigned patients, including a review of systems, as evidence by appropriate documentation. Demonstrate proficiency in performing diagnostic and monitoring procedures and document results accurately and completely.

Initiate and update a comprehensive plan of care according to patients’ needs. Ensure that the documentation reflects patients’ progress towards desired outcome/goals. Respond to Rapid Response and Code Blues.

Demonstrate/verbalizes plan, implement and evaluate complex respiratory procedure for patients in non-specialty and special care areas. Procedures may include continuous ventilator monitoring, oxygen, humidity, and aerosol therapy, airway management, arterial blood gas interpretations. PEE and CPAP therapy, and long-term patient care regimens.

May provide respiratory therapy procedures to patients outside of special care areas which may include routine oxygen, humidity, and aerosol therapy, ABG punctures, and portable oxygen appropriately charting any therapy administered. Demonstrate/verbalize the proper procedure for assisting with bronchoscopies. Evaluate and document the patient’s response to nursing and medical intervention in accordance with policy and procedure.
