The Scripps Health Emergency Nursing Transition Program facilitates the transition of experienced RNs and New Grads with varied clinical backgrounds to an advanced beginner Emergency (ED/ER) Nurse.
During the program, trainees are supported as they develop knowledge and skills to care for the challenging and varied population of patients that seek care in the Emergency Department setting. The classroom portion is system-wide. Positions and clinical training are site-based.
The program utilizes four teaching modalities: eLearning – Scripps specific modules and modules based on the Emergency Nursing Association core curriculum Lectures that generalize the didactic to the bedside Hands-on skills and simulation learning Clinical orientation with trained preceptors in the Emergency Departments across the system At the end of the program, trainees will transition to a full-time position on their unit.
Additionally, trainees should expect to work the night shift on their unit after the completion of the program unless otherwise specified by the hiring leader. Experienced RN Requirement: 1 year of experience, preferably in an acute care (hospital), inpatient setting New Grad RN
New Grad RNs who have EMT, Paramedic, ED Tech, Corpsman, or Patient Care Assistant in the ED setting experience will be considered New Grads who have completed a preceptorship in an ED setting may be considered New Grads must have completed/graduated from an accredited nursing program within the past 12 months at time of application (or will soon graduate) and have 6 months or less of paid RN experience. Prefer New Grads to graduate at least 8 weeks prior to the program start date.
