Qualifications
✓1-3 years or more in a medical call center, public health, or other acute medical setting.
✓Basic computer knowledge/skills.
✓Good verbal and oral communication skills- fast and correct typing at 30 WPM, ability to create grammatically correct responses without any spelling errors.
✓Ability to comprehend, capture as well as interpret basic customer information.
✓Ability to treat people with respect under all circumstances, instill trust in others besides upholding the values of the organization.

About the role

The RN Poison Information Specialist works under general supervision, provides phone consultation and education to consumers and health care professionals regarding human and animal exposures to known & unknown medications, chemicals and other substances.

Asks direct questions toAsks direct questions to elicit information in order to assess patient’s status
Manage and maintain queueManage and maintain queue awareness
Refers cases to PoisonRefers cases to Poison Information Specialist or Certified Poison Information Specialist CSPI for assessment and/or management per established guidelines
Collects demographic and otherCollects demographic and other information to generate statistics on calls
Cases pass routine andCases pass routine and other quality reviews including chart and tape audits and peer review
