RN - SANE (Varied) Internal Agency - Johnson City, TN

​The RN - SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. This may include a medical-forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings. The RN will follow protocols established by the Medical Director and/or management of the SANE Program for which the SANE is employed.

The RN will follow policies, procedures, and protocols for the Ballad Health SANE program. The RN will participate in documentation and evaluation processes with the RN - SANE Nurse Manager. The RN will assure all activities performed adhere to established SANE guidelines.

Additionally, the RN will maintain a close working relationship with SANE Nurse Manager and members of other disciplines in the care of sexual assault survivors. The RN will maintain equipment and supplies in the examination room after use. The RN will maintain records and statistics, as appropriate.

Associate's degree from an accredited Nursing program . Two years experience in hospital setting in the area of Emergency Medicine preferred. Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent communication, problem solving, decisions making, critical thinking skills. Capable of accumulating and analyzing data, recognizing opportunities for improvement, and formulating and implementing plans for change. Ability to develop positive relationships with physicians, community partners and co-workers.

Successfully completes training at a recognized SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Program. Completes competency checklist while being observed by an experienced nurse examiner. Completes 4 hours of continuing education annually, regarding the issues of sexual assault and forensic examinations Licenses and
