Responsibilities Assesses and monitors total physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of surgical patients from infant through geriatrics. Develops and maintains an individualized, professionally modified plan of care reflective of changing needs/outcomes by evaluating the patient's needs during procedure. Provides nursing care in accordance with nursing standards and the patient's plan of care.
Initiates teaching appropriate to patient procedure. Performs circulating scrub duties according to surgery standards. Assists the surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, wound closure and retraction.
Maintains aseptic technique. Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Participates in unit operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of Nursing unit and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.
Qualifications
Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing is required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred
Current RN Licensure in State of Iowa or applicable compact state. Must be licensed in state of residence. Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
