Certifications
✓Wound Ostomy Nurse, Certified (CWON) - WOCNCB Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board 2 Yrs required
✓At least one Certification from preferred list - UNKNOWN Unknown Upon Hire required
Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association preferred Or
Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross preferred
Education
✓Required Bachelor's Degree BSN
Qualifications
✓Urinary or intestinal disorders resulting in the need for an ostomy.
✓Conditions requiring wound management.
✓Impaired or altered skin integrity.
✓Urinary and/or fecal continence issues.
✓Formal or informal continuing education programs.
✓Orientation sessions.
✓Collaborative practice committees.
✓Nursing councils.
✓Attends continuing education programs related to WOC nursing to maintain current knowledge and skills.
✓Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

About the role
The hospital based Wound Clinician serves as a clinical resource and consultant for the acute care of in patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. The care extends to those with acute and chronic wounds (for example, complex draining wounds, fistulae, pressure injury, vascular ulcers), ostomies, percutaneous tubes and continence disorders.
