Qualifications
✓The Security Officer is responsible for protecting people, property, and assets through proactive surveillance, patrols, incident response, and customer service.
✓This position requires a professional, dependable individual with strong observation skills, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations
✓Education & Experience - Required
✓Completion of an approved crisis intervention/de-escalation training course within ninety (90) days of hire.
✓Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required for all individuals hired into this position on or after July 1, 2026.
✓Ability to meet UMMS requirements for operating organizational vehicles.
✓Basic knowledge of security principles, safety procedures, and emergency response practices.
✓Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
✓Ability to recognize escalating behaviors and apply de-escalation techniques appropriately.
✓Ability to document incidents clearly, accurately, and objectively.
✓Basic proficiency in the use of radios, access control systems, visitor screening equipment, and security technology.
