Connecting. Growing together. As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering within Optum Technology, you will lead and mentor platform engineering teams dedicated to VPay applications and shared services.
In this role, you will drive platform engineering strategy, architecture standards, and modernization initiatives, combining hands-on technical guidance with strategic people management. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across Product, Architecture, Security, and Infrastructure to design and deploy scalable, cloud-native . NET solutions that support business-critical payment platforms and operations.
Additionally, you will leverage enterprise-approved AI tools and modern engineering practices to streamline workflows, optimize software delivery, and drive continuous technical innovation. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U. S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Lead and mentor . NET platform engineering teams, providing technical leadership, career development, and performance management Define and drive the platform engineering strategy, architecture standards, and technology roadmap for VPay applications and shared services Oversee the design, development, and support of scalable . NET/C# solutions, APIs, and cloud-native platforms Drive platform modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption, Kubernetes, CI/CD automation, and DevOps best practices Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement Evaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovation Establish engineering standards for security, performance, reliability, and code quality Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and Infrastructure teams to deliver business-critical initiatives Manage technical debt reduction, vulnerability remediation, and platform stability improvements Ensure compliance with enterprise security, privacy, and regulatory requirements Lead release planning, production support, incident management, and operational excellence efforts You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Required
10+ years of software engineering experience with solid expertise in C#, . NET Core, ASP. NET, and API development 5+ years of engineering leadership experience managing software development teams Experience with SQL Server, distributed systems, performance optimization, and observability tools Solid experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS), Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, and cloud-native architectures Solid knowledge of secure software development, application security, and regulatory compliance requirements Deep understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and platform engineering principles
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience; Master's degree Experience leading large-scale modernization and digital transformation initiatives in an enterprise environment Experience utilizing approved AI tools or modern productivity platforms to enhance software engineering workflows Proven excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic planning skills *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.

The salary for this role will range from $112,700 - $193,200 annually based on full-time employment.
