Department: OPS | Campus Operations Chemical Safety Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Senior Occupational Safety Coordinator works under the general direction of Fire and Life Safety Officer. The Senior Occupational Safety Coordinator duties include, but are not limited to, primarily being responsible for construction, fire and life safety code and regulatory compliance for the entire campus. The Senior Occupational Safety Coordinator monitors the campus programs designed to identify, evaluate and control occupational hazards to UAMS employees including respiratory protection, biological safety, chemical safety and radiation safety.

Bachelor's Degree in environmental sciences, safety, industrial hygiene, chemistry, physics, or a related field plus three (3) or more years of experience in occupational health and safety or a related field. Computer competency
Administration experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: OSHA’s Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response standard (HAZWOPER); 40 Hour initial training with eight (8) hours annual refresher. Will be provided within the first year if candidate does not have it. CPR/AED Certified.

Additional Information: What You Will Be Doing (Responsibilities): Conduct safety audits to assess compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Provide general, electrical, and fire safety training to university employees and students.
Help develop policies and procedures that support regulatory compliance. Maintain administrative records for the Safety Compliance Division. Perform other duties as assigned.
