You’ll need
Licensure
✓Must be licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, or must be eligible to be licensed within 6 months of employment if licensed in another state.
Certifications
✓Per Texas statutes, must maintain 8 hours of continuing education yearly in forensic assessment.
Education
✓Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctorate in Psychology or related field.
✓One year of supervised postdoctoral experience in clinical psychology, forensic psychology, or a related field.
✓Two years of post-doctoral experience in completing psychological assessments.
Qualifications
✓Comprehensive knowledge of psychological testing and evaluation techniques.
✓Skill in communicating effectively with hostile, abusive, or irrational individuals.
✓Ability to interpret psychological test and interview results
✓ability to formulate diagnostic impressions
✓ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
✓ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, county employees, private attorneys, outside organizations, and the general public.
Experience in training and/or supervising others preferred.
Experience in a correctional environment and/or in conducting forensic psychological evaluations is preferred.
