Associates' and/or Bachelor's degree in HIM or healthcare-related field, or nursing licensure preferred
Certifications
✓Enter abstracted information into trauma registry software accurately and within required timeframes.
✓Maintain current knowledge of trauma registry practices, coding guidelines, and data quality standards.
✓Completion of the ATS Trauma Registry Course is required within 12 months of hire
✓Completion of the AAAM AIS Coding Course is required within 12 months of hire
✓CAISS certification Required
✓CSTR certification Required
Prior trauma registry experience strongly preferred
Education
✓High School Diploma or equivalent required
Qualifications
✓Completion of an ICD-10 trauma course is required within 12 months of hire, and a refresher course every 5 years
✓Administrative experience - 3 years required
✓Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology required
Two (2) years of experience in health information management, computer data management/data processing, or medical records preferred
Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and AIS coding preferred
