Description

Provides technical and mechanical support for the hospital simulation center. Major Job FunctionsThe following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below.

In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Programs simulator software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor specificationsOperates patient simulators and cameras for the duration of simulationsOperates and maintains audio-visual and debriefing systemsSet up and take down simulation laboratory equipmentMaintain and repair all simulation equipment including mannequins, computers, monitors and a variety of medical equipmentTroubleshoot equipment malfunctions and contacts vendors as neededProvides technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripheralsProvides theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios as requestedCollects data for ongoing research or grant requirementsSet up and maintain surgical/procedural simulatorsMaintains simulation activities and learner confidentialityOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Respiratory Therapy or related field required OR 8 years combined education, training and/or experience requiredWork

2 years related experience requiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Ability to maintain current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment catalogs and operation manualsKnowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminologyStrong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectivelyExperience with technical support in networking, computer hardware or softwareSkills in operating a PC and Mac with experience in MS Office and the ability to learn additional software programs, including audiovisual and computerized simulation equipmentKnowledge of operation of standard audio-visual equipment: projectors, microphones, portable screens, media players, etc.

Mechanical skills to competently maintain and use equipment in the simulation centerOrganizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, track various projects, maintain files, and follow through assignments to completionAbility to maintain confidentiality of informationAbility to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical personsPhysical
