Social Worker-MSW*

The Social Worker-MSW assesses clients for initial transplant suitability and re-evaluates candidates as directed. Counsels clients and facilitates group therapy. Provides assistance to patients and their families in the forms diagnostic evaluation, individual, family & group therapeutic counseling and resource referral.

Refers clients to community resources to enhance compliance with a complex long term medical regimen. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and

Master's degree in social work. Minimum one-year experience in clinical setting, previous counseling experience preferred. Knowledge and

Able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; follow policies consistently; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to positively and effectively manage complex interpersonal relations with patients and staff.

Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently and with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.

Works independently without direct supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; write, hear, read and speak sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to the position.
