This is a Monday through Friday position 2:30pm to 11pm.
The Patient Transport Specialist Specialist is responsible for safely transporting patients between healthcare facilities and/or residences using a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. When not actively engaged in transport runs, this role functions as an Ambassador, supporting patient flow, customer service, and departmental operations. This position ensures a safe, efficient, and compassionate experience for all patients while representing the organization in a professional and service-oriented manner.
The Specialist will also monitor and manage oxygen tanks providing a supportive and ambassadorial presence. JOB FUNCTIONS Key
- Safely transport patients between healthcare facilities or residences using a wheelchair-accessible van
- Ensure the comfort and safety of patients during transit.
- Monitor and manage oxygen tanks during transportation.
- Assist patients in and out of the vehicle, ensuring they are securely seated.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare staff at both the sending and receiving facilities.
- Maintain accurate records of patient transport activities.
- Perform routine checks and maintenance of the transport vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Provide a compassionate and supportive presence, acting as an ambassador for the healthcare facility.
- Complies with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
- When not on van transports, Assist with patient transport within the facility (wheelchairs/stretchers) and Provides wayfinding and customer service to patients and visitors. Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to handle and manage medical equipment such as oxygen tanks and IVs.
