Certifications
✓Current and active Athletic Trainer Certification (ATC) in good standing with the Board of Certification, Inc.
✓Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification.
Education
✓Bachelor's degree in a related field.
✓Recent experience in sports medicine, event coverage, and/or first responder care of high school athletes or beyond.
Advanced degree in a related field. preferred
Qualifications
✓Thorough knowledge of athletic injury prevention and the administration of therapeutic modalities, devices, and rehabilitation techniques.
✓Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
✓Strong written and oral communication skills.
✓Excellent time management and organizational skills.
✓Thorough knowledge of medical terminology appropriate to job responsibilities.
✓Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with a diverse patient population.
✓Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
✓Project management experience.
✓Ability to provide first responder care at athletic events.
✓Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive matters involving athletic injuries and treatments.
✓Minimum of 2 years of education and/or experience in the athletic training field.
Strong manual therapy skills applicable to orthopedics and sports medicine. preferred

About the role

The Athletic Trainer (AT) will work primary out of the Orthopaedic Institute on the Mission Bay Campus of UCSF. The position entails a clinical component of physician support, an outreach component of on-site athletic training services, and an administrative component of assisting with projects and events.
