✓Requirements
Licensure
✓Refer to Laboratory Personnel and Licensure Requirements policy (QI- 11-PER-01) for performance assessment and regulatory responsibilities.
✓Hawaii: Exemption - "Current DLS personnel who were licensed as a Technologist or Specialist by the State of Hawaii prior to the effective date of Hawaii Administrative Rules 11 110 (October 19, 2002)."
✓If required to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license (full license, not provisional or intermediate) and current acceptable traffic abstract is required.
✓Positions performing bench coverage in the Blood Bank department must possess a current Hawaii State license as a Medical Technologist unless otherwise approved by the Laboratory Director.
Certifications
✓Certified as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Technologist or Specialist in the assigned/responsible laboratory discipline by an agency recognized by the Hawaii Department of Health State Laboratories Division.
Education
✓Medical Technologist: Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
