The Surgical Staff Nurse is responsible for coordinating and providing perioperative nursing care to a designated patient population. Provide patient care in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, as well as accepted standards of perioperative nursing practice. Direct the surgical team by performing the duties of a circulating nurse.
Promote positive interpersonal relationships through effective communication with patients, families, and staff. Participate in continuing education and staff development activities. Assist the medical staff with scrub nurse duties, as necessary.
Serve as a role model and effectively promote hospital standards related to operational excellence Requirements EDUCATION Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. REQUIREMENTS Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to read and write the English language.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the State of Mississippi. Current CPR certification. Current ACLS certification or must obtain ACLS certification within the first year of employment.
PERSONALITY Maintain good physical and emotional health. Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use appropriate channels of communication. Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and function effectively in high-stress situations.
Demonstrate flexibility and cooperation with rotating shifts, call duty, and/or assigned duty areas. Promote harmonious inter- and intra-departmental relationships. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and withstand extended periods of physically demanding and strenuous work.
