The ED RN Supervisor is responsible and accountable for coordinating and organizing personnel and other resources to meet the patient care functions of the organization in a cost-effective manner. Collaborates to provide crisis management, interpret policy and procedure, and assure timely and effective communication and collaboration between individuals and departments. Represents the organizational leadership throughout the health system on a 24-hour basis and collaborates to make decisions and act on behalf of the Patient Care Services leadership team.
Oversees those who perform duties in the ED to include conducting meetings, completing job performance appraisals, managing the daily schedule including verifying and approving team member time and leave, and managing the daily schedule of house supervisors. RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS): Interact with providers and team members in a positive, patient-focused manner. Utilize strong leadership skills to build the ED team internally and building ED team rapport externally including patients and providers.
Work willingly and cooperatively with interdepartmental teams to address issues/concerns in an appropriate time frame. Prepare/supervise monthly work schedule. Verify and approve time worked and leave usage accurately and timely.
Oversee training and orientation for new team members assuring that competencies have been completed in an appropriate time frame. Oversee troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment on the floors. Provide guidance in the standardization of departmental procedures.
Assure department performance improvement plan is implemented and quality measures are monitored and acted upon in an appropriate manner. Exhibit excellent critical thinking skills. Work closely with the Director to assure smooth operation both fiscally and technically.
Assist with monitoring budget variance reports. Coach and counsel team members. Evaluate and deliver performance appraisals to team members in a timely manner.
Assist in conducting departmental meetings and team building opportunities on a regular basis. Support departmental and hospital objectives and participate in creating a positive work environment. Perform Code Blue Review and report findings to appropriate committees.
Extract data for the stroke registry and quality measures for stroke care. Monitor and ensure stroke quality measures are met and present information at appropriate committees. Maintain acute stroke readiness for stroke protocols of care as well as team member training per national guidelines.
Ensure tracking of all stroke patients per state regulations. Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts. Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings. Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory. Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations.
This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals. Must adhere to, and promote, safety protocols at all times.
