Certifications
Certification in phlebotomy preferred through the National Pathology Society or National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Services.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Medical Technology preferred.
Qualifications
✓A level of knowledge generally acquired through completion of a Medical Laboratory Technician program.
✓The administrative ability to manage the operation of the phlebotomy program, assuring that procedures are efficiently performed and that all quality controls are followed.
✓Technical knowledge of phlebotomy procedures in order to function as a technical resource for subordinate employees.
✓Interpersonal skills necessary to interface effectively with all levels of personnel within the Hospital.
✓Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
✓Three to five years of progressively more responsible work experience is required, including one year of lead or supervisory experience.
