The Imaging Supervisor works closely with the Imaging Clinical Operations Manager and acts as a liaison between staff, physicians, nurses, and support staff in order to maintain smooth operations of the department. The Supervisor assists with development of section budget, exam protocols, staff competencies, orientation and training. The Supervisor conducts performance evaluations, staff daily assignments to meet productive staffing levels, assists with equipment maintenance and selection, ordering of supplies, and staff education.
The Supervisor is familiar with revenue cycle needs for testing areas. The Supervisor meets requirements of staff sonographers to take direct clinical assignments and operates in a hybrid direct patient care and administrative capacity.
Leadership Responsibilities Provide direct supervision, coaching, and mentorship to sonographers and other imaging staff, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning. Develop and manage staff schedules and coverage plans to support operations, including on call and holiday coverage. Lead staff orientation, training, and ongoing competency development .
Partner with leadership to conduct performance evaluations, feedback sessions, and corrective action when necessary. Promote a calm, professional, and decisive leadership presence . Ensure adherence to Northern Light Health policies, procedures, and behavioral standards .
Build strong working relationships with clinical leaders, department managers, and system-wide stakeholders Operational Oversight Ensure delivery of high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with departmental protocols and best practices. Monitor workflow, patient throughput, exam turnaround times, and resource utilization including labor productivity and overtime. Collaborate with Radiologists, Vascular Surgeons, Emergency Medicine physicians, and other clinical stakeholders to optimize service delivery.
Lead departmental initiatives focused on quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and operational excellence. Support clinical education programs for sonography students and new staff. Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with NL-EMMC and Northern Light Health safety protocols, emergency plans, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and evaluate performance against quality, safety, and service benchmarks in line with accreditation body requirements. Implement corrective action plans when necessary. Promote a safe and compliant work environment, including adherence to SDS, infection control, and workplace safety policies .
Coordinate preventive maintenance and service activities for ultrasound equipment. Participate in hospital committees, performance improvement initiatives, and leadership meetings. Promote evidence-based practice and professional development within the department.
Perform direct patient care, sonographic and vascular testing exams. Support daily operations in general ultrasound and vascular testing, such as staff and patient scheduling, review of QC studies within Enterprise Imaging, revenue cycle initiatives, and workforce management. Assist in development, modification, and ongoing maintenance of department quality initiatives, protocols, ongoing staff education, department staff meetings, and ongoing staff performance evaluation.
Provide support for long-term departmental initiatives such as budgeting, evaluating growth opportunities and participation in medical imaging quality and safety committee. Other Information : Qualifications Board Certified in either OB/GYN and Abdomen or Vascular Technology.
All preferred. A minimum of 4 years clinical experience in area of responsibility. A minimum of 4 years technical experience in diagnostic medical sonography and/or vascular testing.
Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
