As a Surgical Assistant at The Queen’s Medical Center, you’ll be part of a highly skilled surgical team that serves patients from across Hawai‘i and the Pacific Region.

Our nationally recognized surgical program is a leader in robotic and minimally invasive procedures, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to perform complex surgeries. You’ll work alongside expert surgeons, anesthesiologists, Certified Perioperative Nurses (CNOR), Certified Post Anesthesia Nurses (CPAN®), Surgical Technologists, and Nursing Assistants—all dedicated to delivering exceptional care. • High School diploma or comparable education and training.
• Current certification as a first assistant (CFA), surgical assistant (CSA), or assistant in surgery by one the following: o National Board of Surgical Technology and Assisting (NBSTSA) o National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA) o American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) o National Assistant at Surgery Council (NASC)
• Current certification in Basic Life Support at the Healthcare Professional Level.
• Prior First Assistant/Surgical Assistant experience preferred. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: standing, sitting, lifting, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
• Occasional: stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting body, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions.
• Operates computer, microscope, and various surgical equipment, instrumentation and supplies. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposed to blood and body fluids.
