You’ll need
Certifications
✓Must be a graduate of the Surgical Assistant Training Program and be certified as Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Surgical Assistant-Certified (SA-C) by the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA).
✓Current BLS certification.
Education
✓Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or other prerequisite educational background to satisfy eligibility to enter the Surgical Assist Program.
Qualifications
✓Incumbent will be required to demonstrate competence in the performance of duties specific to all age groups of patients.
New graduates will be considered; however, one year of previous surgical tech experience is preferred. Given training and on-the-job experience incumbent should be proficient in basic aspects of the job within 6 months.

About the role
Job Description: Performs specified duties for the set-up, handling and maintenance of surgical supplies, instruments and equipment necessary during a surgical procedure. Acts as first assist to the surgeon, performing various duties as outlined in the scope of practice for the certification.
