You’ll need
Certifications
✓Certified Surgical Technologists are exempt from this requirement but must maintain active certification to continue employment with Regional One Health Required
✓Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist through The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
✓Current CPR/Basic Life Support certification Required
Education
✓High School education or equivalent Required
✓Have completed an appropriate training program for surgical technologists in the armed forcer or at a CAAHEP accredited hospital or CAAHEP accredited ambulatory surgical treatment center program.
Qualifications
✓Effective July 1, 2003, the State of Tennessee requires surgical technologists to complete 15 CEs annually to remain qualified to practice as a Surgical Technologist.
✓Required or
✓Have completed a program for surgical technology accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educa1on Programs (CAAHEP); Required or
✓For purposes of this chapter, “armed forcer: means the army, navy, air force, marine corps, coast guard, or public health service of the United States
✓Successfully complete the surgical technologists NBSTSA certifying exam; Required and
✓Employees may be grandfathered under TN Code Ann. 68-57-102(a) which states individuals who began training or was employed as a surgical technologist prior to May 21, 2007 for no less than eighteen (18) months in a hospital, medical office, surgery center, or school shall meet the requirements to fu
